Thank you for my safety...

Today will be another post about my self defense learning journey.  I am actually heading out to a very exciting conference this morning, Women of Faith, here in Las Vegas.  Since I will be attending a public event, I got to thinking about my safety and the safety of those who will be attending with me.  This conference will be nearly all women, so I think most of us will be pretty safe, but how many times do we tend to take our safety for granted?  Of course, I'm sure no one expects anything to happen at a public religious event, but who knows?  None of us can guarantee our safety all of the time, or even some of the time.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that we should always be aware of our surroundings and we should never take our safety for granted.  We need to give thanks to all the people behind the scenes who make public events like this possible, and do what they can to insure our safety while attending them.  Security teams, law enforcement, and event organizers usually all work together to make events enjoyable and safe.  So the next time you're out enjoying a public event, especially with your children or grandchildren, remember to give thanks because someone, somewhere, thought about your safety.  It was probably the last thing on your mind, but it was or is a priority on the mind of someone else... so I'll say it now, "Thank you!"
